Split boundary conditions

In a lot of my models (example attached), I have two domains, one on top of the other. The bottom one is rigid and the top one undergoes creep. I want the base of the top domain to generally be fixed to the bottom one, but this causes problems at the edge of that domain since it isn’t realistic for the bottom corner of it to be completely pinned there and for the top domain to end up overhanging that point. I’m interested in figuring out a middle ground where the base is mostly fixed except near the edge. I’ve tried splitting up the boundary between the two domains and having different boundary conditions on the two parts (free to move horizontally near the edge but fixed on the rest of the boundary), but it didn’t fix the problem. I’m interested in any recommendations on this.
