Simulating large deformations of a bending beam in a fluid

Hello, I want to simulate large deformations of a bending beam in a fluid. I use Solid Mechanics, Creeping Flow and Moving Mesh (ALE) but I get mesh related errors due to distortion of mesh. I’ve tested several alternatives but none works:

  • Automatic remeshing: Condition for remeshing fulfilled after remeshing or maximum number of iterations reached.

  • Remeshing a deformed configuration: Inverted elements error in some time steps or too many degrees of freedom error.

  • Automatic refinement: Convergence problem.

*I turn Consistent initialization on.

I’ve tested different meshes: triangular, quad, mapped mesh with different sizes, corner refinement and boundary layers. I followed steps explained in “Model Translational Motion with the Deformed Mesh Interfaces” and other COMSOL users forum posts with similar problem. How could I fix these issues? Is there any example for large deformation and its optimal configuration?
