Creating separate subdomains

Hi,

I'm fairly new to comsol and am currently having a bit of trouble creating two separate domains within the same geometry for a fluid flow problem. I'm working with a simple two dimensional geometry of a reaction tank. Within this geometry is the rotating domain (impeller region) and the stationary domain (tank walls). These are the two separate domains I want.

I've attempted to "cut" the outline of the rotating geometry out of the stationary geometry and then import and insert the rotating geometry into the gap left behind. I had hoped this would create two non-oveplapping domains but when I went to mesh the geometry, there were several operlaps and gaps between the two domains.

Does anybody know how to create two non-overlapping domains in a 2D geometry without this happening ?

Thanks, Dónal
