While running a simulation on my 3D model, I encountered a problem that reads:
Failed to find a solution. Maximum number of segregated iterations reached. Returned solution is not converged. Not all parameter steps returned.
The model conatins a 3D X-ray tomography of the pores of an actual rock sample (carbonate rock). The file was imported into Comsol as an .stl file. I am simulating the prossesses of stress and strain on the rock sample to determine how the microscopic bulk moduli of both the fluid and the grain affect the macroscopic/effective bulk modulus of the entire sample under drained and undrained conditions.
I have about 4 samples in total. The first model ran okay (with a lower mesh quality). However, this second sample has far too many boundaries more that the first one, and that has proven difficult to mesh with a decent resolution.
I have tried remeshingm several times, but that does not work. I am using a coarser general physics mesh because the model would not run with a higher resolution. I have been at this for weeks with no real progress.
The file is too large to be attached here. If you know of any, please suggest a solution to go around the problem.
Thanks. NB: The first sample has about 5000 boundaries in total. This second one, which has now encountered this problem, has about 15,000 boundaries in total.
