Hello everyone,
I would like to simulate the heat flow of a laser beam during laser drilling in Comsol. However, I currently have problems with the simulation of material ablation. I have already dealt with the blog entry of Comsol via material ablation (https://www.comsol.com/blogs/modeling-thermal-ablation-for-material-removal/), but it is not possible to simulate a complete hole with it, because the simulation stops as soon as the limits of the geometry are exceeded.
Is there an alternative approach without using the deforming geometry?
My idea is to isolate the heated holes from the model after the drilling time, so that they do not give off any heat to the whole model and thus should represent the material ablation. However, I do not know whether this can be technically implemented. Can anyone help me to find a solution how to insulate the heated material completely or cool it down to room temperature immediatly?
Thank you very much
Best regards
Marcel
